The Hydrology Terminology-I prepared by the Institute in 1993-94, with 395 hydrological terms in eight Indian languages namely Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu was highly appreciated. The pan Indian Terminology-part I, for these hydrological terms was also prepared. The publication was circulated to various organisations and received wide recognition. Keeping in view the popularity of the work, it was decided to extend the work by bringing out Hydrological Terminology-II. The work on second volume was initiated in the year 1995-96. For this volume, 605 terms were selected and their definitions were prepared. The terms, alongwith their definitions, were sent to Water Resources Departments of the eight concerned states for obtaining their equivalents in respective state languages. During the year 1998-99 the work regarding preparation of hydrological terminology has been completed in all respects in collaboration with the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), New Delhi.
A bilingual Hindi - English pocket dictionary has also been released recently containing various hydrological terms.
