Terms of Reference for Indian National Committee for Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (INC-IHP) of UNESCO
To promote and coordinate effective participation of India in the international programs of UNESCO related to hydrology and to act as national committee for such international bodies, where required
To give advice to central and state governments and their agencies on actvities related to hydrology that advance research, education and training in water resources sciences or the application of water resources sciences to hydrological problems,
To maintain effective coordination with other National Committees/Boards, related Government of India /state departments/ laboratories, academic and R & D organizations/ NGOs, working in the area of hydrology and water resources,
To disseminate information related to research and development in hydrology by way of publishing journals, state or art reports in the area of hydrology and disseminating the same to the various stake holders,
To promote education, training and man-power development programs in the field of hydrology,
To organize and conduct seminars/ conferences/ symposia/ workshops to support mass awareness programs, and to arrange R & D review sessions/ brain storming sessions on hydrology.
