Social Relevance: Baan Ganga, a spring fed river faces acute water shortage in non-monsoon period, impacting pilgrim tourism of Maa Vaishno Devi (~1 crore/year) & water needs of local population.
Aim of Study: To suggest a strategy for development and management of springs based on hydrogeochemical, isotopic and geomorphological approach.
Progress: 14 springs were identified for detailed study. NIH is identifying recharge zones. Later, rejuvenation strategy will be developed.
